Costa Rica is renowned for its stunning beaches and lush landscapes, but many of its coastal ecosystems have suffered from deforestation and environmental degradation. Costas Verdes, a non-profit organization, is at the forefront of reversing this damage through large-scale reforestation and conservation initiatives.

Since 2009, Costas Verdes has planted over 96,000 native trees across 30 coastal areas, restoring habitats and increasing biodiversity. Their efforts go beyond planting trees—they engage local communities, schools, and volunteers, ensuring a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.

One of the organization’s key initiatives is the development of nurseries in coastal communities, providing a sustainable source of native plants. By partnering with the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), they are reinforcing Costa Rica’s reputation as a global leader in conservation.

Through education, community involvement, and dedicated restoration projects, Costas Verdes is proving that regenerating nature is possible. Their work not only protects Costa Rica’s beaches but also ensures a thriving ecosystem for future generations.
