On December 23rd, the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia achieved a historic milestone by welcoming a remarkable 10,252 passengers in a single day.

The airport administration reported handling 31 operations on that extraordinary day, including six domestic flights and 25 international flights, with the majority arriving from the United States and Canada.

César Jaramillo, the General Manager of Guanacaste Airport, attributed this achievement to a well-crafted strategy in collaboration with the government, airlines, hoteliers, and tour operators. "This is not the result of chance but of a strategy that we have worked on together with the government, airlines, hoteliers, and tour operators," stated Jaramillo. "We continue to operate within our installed capacity and with a positive experience for those who choose Guanacaste as the ideal destination for their vacations."

This marks the fourth time this year that the airport has broken its own record for visitor numbers. In January, it reported an unprecedented monthly total of 181,840 passengers. In March, the record was shattered again with a total of 184,617 passengers. Additionally, March 11th saw the highest traffic day with 9,922 tourists.

Since 2012, Guanacaste Airport has been operated under the concession of Coriport, which recently changed its international designation to avoid confusion with Liberia in Africa.

The terminal hosts 15 international airlines and one domestic airline, connecting to 23 international destinations. The consistent growth in visitor numbers reinforces Guanacaste's position as a preferred destination for global travelers.
